Over the last couple of months, I have been trying really hard to remember the precious things that my kids do so that I can share them with Brady. Here are a couple of things that really stuck.
Many of you know that I prefer to avoid a mess at any cost. To help with that, I have a rule that my kids can't chew gum until Kindergarten. Well Jack has been playing with the kids across the street a lot lately and the other day he walked in with his buddies in tow and they were just smacking away on some gum. I looked at Jack and he held up a wrapped piece and said, "Mom, can I save this 'til I get to Kindergarten?" I just thought that was so sweet that he respected my wishes even in front of his friends. So of course being the sweet mother that I am, I said, "Of course you can, just put it in the pantry." I may not be raising the coolest kid on the block, but I know he is the sweetest.
On the other hand, those of you who have spent time with Camille know that she will test every boundary she is given and then some. Well I just love to threaten them with a wooden spoon but I never really use it (but Camille is quite fascinated with it). Last night I was fussing at her and I told her I was going to spank her. So she she jumps up and starts yelling at me to go get my spoon. Now you know Jack was all over that! He went running to the drawer and brought it to me. I gave her the stare and she just stared back at me. Then, to my surprise, she walked over to me, stuck her booty and my face and said "Pop me Mommy." What was I supposed to do? She totally called my bluff. So I gave her a little tap and sent her on her way. She cracks me up!
How can they be so different? "Henry, what do you have in store for me?"
