The Crayon Crisis!
So the Camille stories have slowed down a little bit lately. I was just about to announce that she has maybe grown out of her "interesting" behavior until she pulled this stunt. It was the day before I was leaving town to visit some friends and I had a huge list of things to do as you all can imagine. At 12:30 that afternoon I was cleaning house when Camille informed me that she put a crayon in her nose and she couldn't get it out. I looked up and there it was. I told her not to move as I headed to get the tweezers. Just then, she sniffed!!!!!!!!! I tried to no avail to reach that thing. I called Brady who laughed and informed me that he put an Operation Bone up his nose once and had to go to the ER (I didn't find this funny). Most of you know that I will do just about anything to not have to go to the doctor, but I had no choice. So I brought her to the Children's Clinic and was told that it was too far up and we would have to go to and E.N.T. Just for the record, this is when I started to really panic. "Luckily" the pediatrician made a few calls and squeezed us in somewhere. We waited there for quite some time to be told that he could not get it either without putting her to sleep.
At this point I started asking really stupid questions like: What will happen if we just leave it there? or- Won't she eventually just sniff it up and swallow it?
Again, as "luck" would have it, he was able to call the hospital and get her into day surgery for that evening when he was finished for the day. It was already 4:30.
Camille never missed a beat all day. She even informed the nurse at the hospital how upset she was that they didn't have a pink gown for her. We told her that the yellow one matched the crayon in her nose. She went into the operating room and 10 minutes later the doctor came out with the color in a cup.
We were home by 6:45 and thanks to my mom, dad, and mother-in-law, my house was clean, my kids were packed, Jack made it to his baseball game, and I still made my flight the next morning.
When I finally asked her why she did it, she told me it was because she ran out of paper to color on. Lesson Learned!!!!!!!!
